Summary
The extension does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or store your browsing activity, X/Twitter data, generated queries, or extension inputs on developer-controlled servers. There are no developer-controlled servers.
It does not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, cookies, the X API, or private X GraphQL APIs.
Data handled locally
The extension temporarily processes the following information on your device:
- The URL of the active tab after you click the extension icon.
- A public X/Twitter handle detected from a supported profile or search URL, or entered manually.
- The year, month, and optional keyword or phrase you enter.
- The generated X search query and search URL.
The active tab URL is considered browsing activity under Chrome Web Store policy. It is processed only for the user-facing handle detection feature and is not retained or sent to the developer.
How the information is used
The information above is used only to:
- Detect a public profile handle from the current supported X/Twitter URL.
- Calculate the first day of the selected month and the first day of the next month.
- Build and preview an X search query.
- Copy the query to your clipboard when you click
Copy Query. - Open an X search URL in a new tab when you click
Open X Search.
Storage and retention
Tweet Time Machine does not use Chrome storage, local storage, or a remote database for user inputs or search history. Inputs exist only in the open popup and are discarded when that popup closes. The developer retains no extension user data.
Chrome permission
The extension requests only activeTab.
This permission grants temporary access to the current tab only after you invoke the extension. It is used to read the current URL for handle detection. The extension does not inject scripts, read page content, inspect cookies, or monitor browsing in the background.
Third-party services
When you click Open X Search, your browser navigates to an HTTPS URL on x.com containing the generated query. That user-directed interaction is governed by X's own terms and privacy policy. Tweet Time Machine does not control X search results or X's handling of requests.
This informational website is hosted by GitHub Pages. Visiting the website may cause GitHub to process ordinary hosting request information under GitHub's own privacy statement. The extension itself does not contact this website or GitHub Pages.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information is used only to provide the extension's disclosed, single-purpose functionality.
Extension data is not used or transferred for personalized advertising, unrelated purposes, creditworthiness, lending, or sale to data brokers.
Policy changes
If the extension's data practices change, this policy will be updated before the new practices take effect, and the effective date will be revised. Material changes will also be disclosed through the extension or Chrome Web Store listing as required.
